Prosthetic care | Crowns, bridges, inlays

The specialty of prosthodontics, also known as dental prosthetics, involves the replacement of missing or severely damaged teeth. The corresponding dental prosthesis is made individually for you by a dental technician in a dental laboratory. The primary goal is to restore the function and shape of the teeth in order to ensure stable and strong chewing in the long term.

A basic distinction is made between fixed, removable and combined dental prostheses:

Fixed prostheses

Crowns, partial crowns, inlays, bridges are all fixed dental prostheses. The respective prosthesis is firmly attached to the existing teeth and is not removable. Due to the fixed anchoring, the prosthesis is most similar to natural teeth in terms of function and aesthetics. In addition to metal alloys (e.g. gold), tooth-colored ceramic materials (zirconium oxide, press ceramics) are increasingly being used as materials today.

Removable prostheses

Partial and full dentures are both considered removable dentures. They can be used for long-term restoration, as well as for a short-term period after tooth loss or during implant placements. The dentures consist of a plastic part, called the base, to which the artificial teeth are attached.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures have an acrylic base that can be attached to healthy teeth with the help of metal retaining clasps.Full dentures are held in place solely through suction and are used when all teeth are missing.

Combined prostheses

Partial dentures have an acrylic base that can be attached to healthy teeth with the help of metal retaining clasps.Full dentures are held in place solely through suction and are used when all teeth are missing.
